University of Kiel (sorry, can’t find a super pretty picture for you), established on 5 October, 1665, by Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. It was the northern most university in the Holy Roman Empire:
(See Kiel at the very tippy top there? I swear, you could swim to Denmark or Sweden from there. But don’t try it, it’s very cold.)
During World War II, it was severely damaged and was rebuilt in another location, however some of the older buildings house the medical school.
Their faculties are:
- Theology
- Law
- Business, Economics, and Social Sciences
- Medicine
- Arts and Humanities
- Mathematics and Natural Sciences
- Agricultural Science and Nutrition
- Engineering
The university currently has 23,000 students.
